Kyudo (Japanese archery) is a martial art very popular in Japan and in the rest of the world. Its origins have been traced back to 500 BCE, but it is best associated to the time the samurai class swayed the country (1183 – 1868). Kyudo is known to improve focus, discipline and precision. One of the most hyped kyudo event is the 400 years old competition called Ohmato Taikai held in Kyoto every second Sunday of January. About 2000 contestants participate and the targets are set 60 metres away.
